Glassy

A brief respite from the continual snow and rain storms we'd been enjoying this spring weekend.  Moments like this make it all worthwhile.

(The previous evening looked like this...)

Winter Dawn, Teton Style

I've been struggling to figure out how to crop this shot for quite some time.  It finally ocurred to me to just go wide.  Really wide.  It might come out kinda of puny on a computer screen (heaven forbid a phone).  Make sure you click the image to enlarge it at least somewhat.

This is obviously the South, Middle, Grand, and Owen in their wintery glory.  Glad I wasn't up there, it looked cold.

With Intent

Watching with the the intensity of a hungry fox.  Quite literally.  This is out on Jackson Lake, just about a year ago.  I really loved this little dot of animated brillant soft color on the vast expanse of hard flat white ice.

Moonrise under Warbonnet Peak

Late light on Warbonnet peak, as the moon looks for a way around it.  Warbonnet guards the southern entrance to the Cirque of the Towers in Wyoming's Wind River range.  It is truly impressive from any angle.

The Face of the American West

It's probably cliche, but I think bison are just cool.  Even when they're only standing around being cold.  This is dawn in the GTNP last January-- just getting around to looking at some of the shots from that day.

Winter's Coming

A foggy dawn in Grand Teton NP (last winter).  It's not here yet, but the weather is turning over, the flowers are sagging, the spiders are looking for hiding places, and I can feel winter creeping up on me.
