Nonchalance

I guess the title says it all.  This little guy turned his back on me and thoroughly ignored me.

Frog Habitat

Lily pond at Mom's house is looking good this summer.  No frogs yet, though.

Spaghetti Bomb

I love this stuff, but I have no idea what it is.  You sure don't just reach in and grab some curly-cues out of it, that's for sure!

Click on the photo to see it larger.  Much sharper that way.

Silver

Couple of honkers cruising through the brilliant dawn fog over Leigh Lake, WY.    I wanted to name this one "Silver Surfers,"  but that's just too derivative, even for me!

Wet Desert

Deserts are reputed to be warm, dry places where you can go to escape the cold damp northern spring.  Not so, as it turns out.  Southern Utah can be a very wet, muddy, flash-floody, cold place in the spring.  It rained an inch here the night before I took this shot. (which was record so I guess it's not this wet *all* the time!)

Indian Paintbrush 1

I've been trying to take a worthy photo of Indian Paintbrush for *years* now.  I've finally given up trying to do them justice, and I'm just going to post my weak attempts as I make them.  Thus this is number 1, of many more trials to come, I hope.

Looking for a Hookah

OK, so this guy is obviously not into hookah.  He likes his leaves green and fresh.  But that's what I was raised to think caterpillars do on their time off -- smoke hookah.  We didn't discuss it; I just moved along.

Dawn Fog Line

Fog threads its way down from Jackson Lake and wraps itself around the base of Mt. Moran, just before sunup.  Shortly after this, it ran down the lake and caught me in the canoe, yielding the "Fogged In" shot of a couple posts ago.

The White Rim

Panoramic view of the White Rim (and the White Rim Trail) as seen from the Island in the Sky.  I hope it doesn't look muddy at this tiny reduction.  The print is 100" x 40" at 100 dpi.  Lotsa details at full resolution, not so much here.    Gorgeous country, and worth the effort to get the shot, I think.  599 more shots from the desert country to finish...

Fogged In

I've had a good spring, photographically speaking.  Trips to the Moab area and Grand Teton Park have netted me about 700 photos (and some really nice lake trout).  Now the big challenge, as always, is to sit down and finish them up.  Especially tough when it's so nice out.  Here is John Gill's boat waiting for some sun.

Keep Out!

The ever-lovely Diamond Peak gated and chained.  A little allegorical with respect to the current state of affairs here.  Although you can still get to Diamond, around the West big land interests are turning National Forest, BLM, and Wilderness land into their own private preserves.  They simply buy up the private land surrounding public lands and then lock it up to prevent access by the rightful owners (us).  I have a bit of a problem with that.

Spring Snow Triptych

Spring comes hard around here, but underneath all that snow, it's quietly getting ready for its turn...

Star Horse

A horse made of the night sky... full of stars and galaxies.

I'm trying to get back to posting after a year of nothing but distractions.  We'll see if I succeed or not in the coming weeks.  Fingers X'd.
